In 2008 the above Charitable Trust was created in memory of Welsh sporting hero, Ray Gravell. Its aim is to support worthy causes and individuals in West Wales.
In early 2010, Mrs Audrey Jenkins, Trustee and Events Co-ordinator of the Ty Bryngwyn Hospice Trust, was approached by their secretary, Mrs Marilyn Williams, and asked if there was anything they could do for us. It was stressed that donations could not be used for building works but for something specific.
At that time, improvements were being made to each of the 6 bedrooms to enclose the patios outside each one which would enable patients to sit in privacy in a small sun room and to enjoy the garden whatever the weather. The idea for this addition came from our past-Chairman, Dr Mary Llewellyn Morgan MBE, whose sister had spent time at the Hospice during her illness. She wanted so much to go into the garden but was unable to do so easily because of the inclement weather at that time.
After discussions with the Hospice Manager it was agreed that application for funds towards furniture for the sun rooms be made. The Ray Gravell & Friends Charitable Trust agreed to donate the very generous sum of £2,000 towards the cost for which we are extremely grateful.
On 7th September members of the Trust visited the Hospice to view the new furniture.
