Ty Bryngwyn Hospice in Llanelli is set to get a £38,000 shot in the arm from the Assembly.
Health Minister Edwina Hart has announced £4 million Assembly Government funding for hospices and palliative services across Wales.
Ty Bryngwyn is one of 18 hospices in Wales getting a share of the cash, around £1.9 million of which is also going to NHS palliative care services.
Gareth Jones, treasurer for the hospice, said: "I'm pleased with the money. We can now focus our attention where it is required, the development of 24 hour consultation and nursing cover."
Mrs Hart said: "For people with progressive and life-threatening conditions, good quality care provided, at what is a very distressing time, is the best possible."
